Louise Brooks nudes

Alfred Cheney Johnston (known as “Cheney” to his friends and associates) (April 8, 1885 – April 17, 1971) was a New York City-based photographer known for his portraits of Ziegfeld Follies showgirls as well as of 1920s and 1930s actors and actresses. Here are his two nude portraits of the one and only Louise Brooks. (undated)

  1. This photo it’s a fake. Louise’s head (out of size) it’s from another photo of her and the body belongs (or it’s attributed) to Carole Lombard. Sorry.

      1. A lot of people told me the photos are fake (I still think they look great!) but what are your sources? How exactly did you find out?

  2. These two links are my sources: http://sites.google.com/site/aimlessdatabase/home/louise-brooks-fake-pic. And the other is: http://www.hooping.org/2012/06/alfred-cheney-johnston-and-the-ziegfeld-hula-hoop-nudes-mystery/. Check out the links and let me know if you were able to open them. I hope you have no problems opening them. I typed the links as accurately as I could. Like the others who said the photo is a fake, I can see that Louise Brooks’ head is NOT in proper proportion to the body. The head is too large. Also, if you look at the way the head rest on the body, it just doesn’t look natural. But, like you, I agree it doesn’t stop the image from looking great. Once again, let me know if you were able to open the links.

Oh, and one more thing – that’s Paulette Goddard’s body in the fake pic and not Carole Lombard as another commenter stated.
