We came across this great portrait of one of our personal favorite actors, the one and only Mr. Peter Lorre. It dates back to 1939. Unknown photographer (if you happen to know who shot it, please write to us). For some more grotesque shots of Mr. Lorre, like us on Facebookhereand check out our 1969 rare Fritz Lang portrait here I am not the author of this image.

This photo is from a play Peter Lorre appeared in called “Spring’s Awakening”, which opened on Oct. 14, 1929, in Berlin, Germany. You can find out more about Peter’s life and career in the authorized Lorre biography, “The Lost One: A Life of Peter Lorre”, by Stephen D. Youngkin.
You’re very welcome! You might want to change the date on your blog title from “1939” to “1929”. I don’t know who the photographer was, just that it’s one of many photos taken of Peter in his various plays. I’m the webmaster of the “Lost One” website, and we’ll be using these photos in an expanded “Peter Lorre in Theater” section.
